Our Story, From Hobby to Full-Service Shop
Backfire Barn started as a simple love for engines — taking things apart just to see how they worked, then putting them back together better than before. Over the years, that curiosity turned into a career, and eventually into the full-service mechanic shop we run today.
Humble Beginnings
Our journey began in a small shop where the focus was almost entirely on small engines: lawn equipment, generators, and other outdoor power gear. Word spread quickly about the quality of our work and honest approach, and the business grew from a local repair operation into a nationwide parts supplier, handling both OEM and aftermarket components.
As demand increased, so did our capabilities. We expanded beyond small engines into automotive, ATVs, side-by-sides, and marine work, becoming a one-stop shop for many of our customers.
Challenges, Closure, and a Fresh Start
Like many businesses, we were hit hard by the events of 2020. Supply chain disruptions made it extremely difficult to source parts on time. At the same time, our owner was dealing with severe arthritis that affected the fine motor skills needed for tasks like carburetor work and small, detailed repairs.
Between the parts shortage and health issues, we made the difficult decision to temporarily close. Even during that time, past customers continued to call and ask when we would be back.
Thanks to proper treatment and modern medicine, those fine motor skills have returned — and so has Backfire Barn. With better tools, better systems, and a renewed focus on quality, we are back open and committed to serving our community for the long term.

The owner has spent years building both hands-on experience and formal training, holding more than 30 certifications across multiple areas of small engine, powersports, and automotive work. That training is backed up by real-world experience diagnosing difficult problems and repairing a wide range of equipment.

How We Work Today
We operate as a service-by-appointment shop in Warren, Texas. That means we schedule your vehicle or equipment into our workflow on purpose — no guessing when we can “fit you in.” This helps us respect your time and give each job the attention it deserves.
